Tetrazine Stearic Acid is a tetrazine-functionalized C18 fatty acid conjugate designed for bioorthogonal click chemistry and lipid-based applications. The tetrazine moiety provides a reactive handle for rapid and selective inverse electron-demand Diels–Alder (IEDDA) reactions with strained alkenes and alkynes under mild, catalyst-free conditions.
The hydrophobic stearic acid chain promotes association with lipid bilayers, liposomes, lipid nanoparticles (LNPs), and other hydrophobic environments, while the exposed norbornene group enables subsequent surface functionalization. This approach allows fluorescent probes, polymers, targeting ligands, and other alkene/alkyne-functionalized molecules to be introduced through a convenient bioorthogonal conjugation strategy.
