DBCO Palmitic Acid is a dibenzocyclooctyne (DBCO)-functionalized C16 saturated fatty acid designed for lipid-based applications and copper-free bioorthogonal conjugation. The strained cyclooctyne group provides a highly reactive handle for strain-promoted azide–alkyne cycloaddition (SPAAC) with azide-functionalized molecules under mild, catalyst-free conditions.
The hydrophobic palmitic acid chain facilitates incorporation into lipid bilayers, liposomes, lipid nanoparticles (LNPs), and other hydrophobic environments, providing a convenient strategy for introducing a bioorthogonal DBCO functionality into lipid assemblies. The DBCO group can subsequently be used to conjugate fluorescent probes, targeting ligands, peptides, polymers, biomolecules, and other azide-functionalized compounds through rapid and selective click chemistry.
