Description

Synonyms: Palmitic Acid-Alkyne; Alkyne-Palmitic Acid; 16-Hexadecynoic Acid

Alkyne Palmitic Acid is an alkyne-functionalized C16 saturated fatty acid designed for lipid-based applications and bioorthogonal conjugation. The terminal alkyne group provides a versatile reactive handle for alkyne–azide cycloaddition, including copper-catalyzed azide–alkyne cycloaddition (CuAAC) and, where applicable, conjugation with azide-functionalized molecules.

The hydrophobic palmitic acid chain facilitates incorporation into lipid bilayers, liposomes, lipid nanoparticles (LNPs), and other hydrophobic environments, providing a convenient strategy for introducing an alkyne functionality into lipid assemblies. The terminal alkyne can subsequently be used to attach fluorescent probes, targeting ligands, peptides, polymers, biomolecules, and other azide-functionalized compounds through click chemistry.
