Carbonylacrylic (CBA) DPPE is a phospholipid conjugate containing a norbornene-functionalized head group covalently attached to 1,2-dipalmitoyl-sn-glycero-3-phosphoethanolamine (DPPE). The CBA moiety provides a reactive handle for selective conjugation with thiol-containing molecules under mild conditions, enabling efficient post-functionalization of lipid assemblies and biomolecular surfaces.
The hydrophobic DPPE lipid can incorporate into liposomes, lipid nanoparticles (LNPs), and other lipid-based assemblies, positioning the CBA group at the particle or membrane surface. This enables site-specific attachment of thiol-containing molecules after lipid assembly, providing a straightforward approach for introducing functional or targeting ligands without modifying the lipid formulation itself.
