Description
Synonyms: Palmitic Acid Norbornene(NBE)
Norbornene (NBE) Palmitic Acid is a norbornene-functionalized C16 fatty acid conjugate designed for bioorthogonal click chemistry and lipid-based applications. The norbornene moiety provides a reactive handle for rapid and selective inverse electron-demand Diels–Alder (IEDDA) reactions with tetrazine-functionalized molecules under mild, catalyst-free conditions.
The hydrophobic palmitic acid chain promotes association with lipid bilayers, liposomes, lipid nanoparticles (LNPs), and other hydrophobic environments, while the exposed norbornene group enables subsequent surface functionalization. This approach allows fluorescent probes, polymers, targeting ligands, and other tetrazine-functionalized molecules to be introduced through a convenient bioorthogonal conjugation strategy.
